Like just about everyone else in healthcare, we’ve been watching the news closely to see if the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula will finally be permanently repealed. Call us crazy, but we’re cautiously optimistic! After ten years and 17 short term “fixes,” this might actually be the year that we see resolution.
We’re encouraged that legislators from both sides of the aisle seem to finally realize how important this is to physicians as well as the Medicare system as a whole. Almost more encouraging than the proposed .5% payment update for each of the next five years is the idea of reimbursement stability!
We are keeping an eye on the news and will be glad to share what we learn. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that this is the year!
