Here is an example: When we billed, our net system posted agreed contracted allowable amount of $294.47 for a certain procedure, instead of just posting the actual payment amount after received. When BC paid only $278.22, RBS knew immediately that this was incorrect. Ninety percent of the time billing staff will write off the balance as a “contractual allowance”, and never go back to the payer for a correction. Because our system works through net billing, we were able to go back to the payer and receive full contractual payment for the procedure.
